What is an explainer video?
It's a short video, usually animated, that answers one question: what do you do, and why should I care? It replaces the three paragraphs nobody reads above the fold. It gives a visitor the same understanding a good salesperson delivers in ten sentences.
You'll also hear it called a product video, a presentation video, or a VSL when it's written to sell one specific offer. The craft is the same: a script, an animation, a voice, a soundtrack. What changes is the intent. An explainer makes people understand. A VSL makes them understand, then act. Here, both are written by the same team, and we pick the intent with you.
Where it goes, and what it changes
An explainer video works in four places.
- At the top of your homepage or sales page: visitors get your offer without reading.
- After a demo or a proposal: your rep sends a one minute link instead of a PDF deck.
- On LinkedIn, in an email signature, in an outbound sequence.
- At a trade show, looping on a screen, with captions.
The structure of an explainer that converts
Sixty seconds is short. Every second has a job, and we write them in this order.
- 0 to 5 sec: the problem or the promise, in your customer's words. This is the line that decides whether they stay.
- 5 to 20 sec: how it works, in three steps at most. One idea per shot.
- 20 to 45 sec: what makes you credible and what's included. Facts, not adjectives.
- 45 to 60 sec: one action to take, said clearly, and your brand.
How we make it
We start from your website and your product. We write the script, you approve it: nothing gets animated without your OK. Then we build the video in your brand, with your logo and your real product on screen, from your screenshots if it's software. American English voiceover, music and sound design are included. Captions too, when the format calls for them.
The first cut lands 3 business days after payment and script approval. You tell us what's off, with timestamps if you can: "at 0:12, make the logo bigger". Revisions are unlimited as long as the subject stays the one in the script. And if you really don't like the first cut, we remake it from scratch.
Software, services, courses: three common cases
A SaaS product: your interface is redrawn and animated, screen by screen. No blurry screen recording with a mouse cursor. Viewers see what the product does, not menus.
A service business or an agency: your process in clear steps, from first contact to result. That's usually what prospects struggle to picture, and what removes objections.
A course or a coaching program: the promise, the curriculum, who it's for and who it's not for. Without a dollar figure you couldn't stand behind.
What it costs, and how long it takes
The explainer, 60 to 90 seconds, costs $687, everything included, with the 16:9 version for your site and the 9:16 version for social. Beyond 90 seconds, we price the extra length with you before we start. It's sold on a call, because an explainer deserves a conversation about your product. Options: an extra language such as Spanish, a faster first cut. Details on our pricing page.
Launching an offer? Pair the explainer with video ads: the ad brings prospects in, the explainer convinces them on your site, with the same message and the same look.
